CAPE TOWN HISTORICAL TOUR
We start with the CASTLE OF GOOD HOPE, the oldest stone building in SOUTH AFRICA. I will introduce you to a KHOISAN, the Cape’s first inhabitant. Learn how first the Dutch and then the British influenced history. The ANGLO-BOER WAR, why was it fought and what were the consequences? You will marvel at the finest collection of South African antiques. Then it is off to explore the GRAND PARADE, The OLD CITY HALL, where in 1990, President Mandela made his first public appearance in 27-years. We will perambulate through THE COMPANY GARDENS. DISTRICT SIX with its tragic history beckons. Then it is off to explore the colorful historical CAPE MALAY area – the BOKAAP. Why not enjoy an original Cape Malay lunch? HISTORICAL SIMON’S TOWN
The FALSE BAY coastline, MUIZENBERG, SAINT JAMES, KALK BAY to SIMON’S TOWN is steeped in history as well as great beauty. We will visit the simple cottage where the controversial diamond magnate CECIL JOHN RHODES died in 1903. Explore the numerous antique shops of KALK BAY before entering SIMON’S TOWN, headquarters of the South African Navy. Walking the historical mile each building tells a story how the British Navy, from 1820, established their largest naval base outside Britain. We must explore:
- The Simon’s Town Museum.
- The South African Naval Museum.
- The Toy Museum.
- SAS Assegai, a 1971 Theta class diesel submarine
- Just Nuisance an amazing dog!
